working outside the squareWhat do you get when you take 50 artists (see list of featured artists) and ask them to work outside the square?

From May 19 until June 14 2006 Leadlight by Ettore, in association with the Mad gallery, will be presenting the results of this experiment.

"Working Outside the Square" is an exercise in glass fusing for 50 established artists, from the Macedon Ranges area, who normally work in a medium other than glass. The participating artists will be creating fused glass items of approximately 250mm diameter in the shape of a circle, square or triangle.

Creation of the projects has taken place during January and February when participants had access to the facilities at Leadlight By Ettore's studio. Projects took the artists approximately 3 hours to complete and all materials were provided by the kind donations of Axcess glass.working outside the square

At the exhibition the fused projects will be sold for between $50 and $100 dollars with all proceeds used to fund an emerging art students tuition to the Victorian College of Arts.

All artists know how hard it is to become established in the art community and this project provides a chance for established artists who wish to help out an emerging artist.

We hope to see you at the exhibition. Please contact Ettore Di Pilla on 5427 2927 for further information.

Working Outside the Square was made possible by the support of Axess glass and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council.
